Mobile app maintenance cost depends on your app’s condition, the work you need, the platforms you support and the responsibilities included in your agreement. A useful budget separates ongoing care from initial assessment, larger repairs and third-party running costs.
In this guide
That distinction matters when comparing proposals. A monthly fee for a small maintenance queue is a different service from a dedicated development team or round-the-clock incident support. Start with the work your app needs, then compare prices against the same scope.
What affects the cost of maintaining a mobile app?
An app that builds reliably and has a clear release process is a different starting point from one with missing access or years of unresolved issues. Before accepting a maintenance quote, establish four things.
The condition of the code. Can the team build the current app from its source files? Are dependencies documented? Is the reported problem reproducible? Investigation and recovery may need their own budget before routine care can begin.
The supported platforms. A shared codebase can serve both iOS and Android, but testing and release preparation still need to reflect the platforms you actually support. Two separate native apps may require separate implementation work for the same requested change.
The connected services. Payments, sign-in, hosting and notifications can involve systems outside the mobile app. Ask which of those systems the maintenance provider will support and which remain with another supplier.
The expected workload. Occasional contained fixes need a different arrangement from a busy roadmap with new screens, integrations and substantial features.
Build your budget in four parts
| Budget item | What it pays for | What to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| Initial assessment | Understanding access, build readiness and known issues | Deliverables, eligibility and whether repairs are included |
| Monthly care | An agreed allowance of maintenance and small improvements | Task boundaries, queue, testing and reporting |
| Separate projects | Recovery, major upgrades or substantial new functionality | Fixed scope, price and acceptance criteria |
| Running costs | Store accounts, hosting, software and service usage | Which business pays each provider |
This structure helps you distinguish a predictable care fee from the total cost of operating your app. A fixed monthly plan does not make every other expense disappear.
Afiniti Global’s app maintenance pricing
As of 4 November 2026, Afiniti Global’s published regional prices are:
| Service | UK price | USD price |
|---|---|---|
| App baseline assessment, once | £375 | $500 |
| App Care, per month | £565 | $750 |
| Care Plus, per month | £1,125 | $1,500 |
App Care includes up to 10 accepted small changes and fixes, plus one separate micro-feature allowance each month. Care Plus includes up to 20 accepted small changes and fixes, plus two separate micro-features, a personal account manager and a monthly planning call.
Both plans use one prioritised queue, with one item active at a time. These are work allowances, not a promise that every request will finish within the month. The current App Care plans explain acceptance, carryover and exclusions.
If you purchase the standard assessment and then begin approved App Care, those two fees total £940 in the UK or $1,250 at USD pricing. With Care Plus, they total £1,500 or $2,000. These examples exclude applicable taxes, third-party fees and separately agreed work. Assessment and care are separate purchases; buying an assessment does not start a subscription.
Questions to ask before agreeing a monthly fee
Ask what counts as one task, who prioritises the queue and how the provider handles a request that turns out to be larger than expected. Confirm whether unused allowances expire, how unfinished accepted work is treated and who approves releases.
Also check cancellation terms. Afiniti Global’s plans are monthly in advance, with a one-month minimum and 30 days’ notice. Service ends at the end of the paid monthly period that falls at least 30 days after notice. This can mean another monthly payment is due after you give notice.
Common questions about app maintenance costs
Is hosting included in mobile app maintenance?
Only if the agreement says so. Afiniti Global treats hosting, store accounts, software subscriptions and third-party usage charges separately. Connected-system maintenance is included only where explicitly scoped.
Can a maintenance plan include new features?
Small additions may qualify within a defined allowance. Afiniti Global’s micro-features use existing screens or workflows, data and services. New screens, integrations and substantial backend changes require separate quotes.
Should I choose the cheapest monthly plan?
Choose a plan that matches the work and responsibilities you need. A lower fee will not solve a mismatch between a small maintenance allowance and a major development backlog.
